Yeah, that's the word for the day.Yokono. Don't ask me why i chose that.It was a random thing you see. I was walking towards the library.Zahirah wanted SO much to borrow some books,so being the greatest friend that I am I accompanied her. While walking across the road, a name struck me. "Yokono"Instantly,i fell in love with that name. For those who doesn't know what it meant, here's something that you SHOULD add on in your 'now-i-know-her-crap-list' in courtesy of the greatest person.-Me.
Yoko Ono Lennon (born February 18, 1933 in Tokyo, Japan) is a Japanese-born Americanmusician and artist. She was already a minor celebrity in the art world when she achieved worldwide fame or notoriety through her relationship and eventual marriage with then-BeatleJohn Lennon. She currently resides in New York City. In Japanese Kanji, her name is written 小野 洋子 (Ono Yōko).
Oh well!I'm used to calling her Yoko Ono,not Ono Yoko.= For those who are wondering how she looks like, this is Yoko Ono.The one and only.
There.Yoko Ono.Isn't the picture captivating?
She had her first worlf tour in 1986,wanting to spread her message of peace.
Since the 1960s, Ono has been a consistent and outspoken supporter of peace and human rights. After their wedding, Lennon and Ono held a "Bed-In for Peace" in their honeymoon suite at the AmsterdamHilton Hotel in March 1969. The press fought to get in, presuming that the two would be having sex for their cameras, but they instead found a pair of newlyweds wearing pajamas and eager to talk about and promote world peace.
Ono has had a turbulent relationship with Beatle Paul McCartney. The dispute has centered on, among other issues, the writing credits for many Beatles songs. Recently, accepting an award at the 2005 Q Awards, Ono made a controversial comment that the media have interpreted as an insult to Paul McCartney's songwriting. She mentioned that Lennon had once felt insecure about his songwriting, and asked her why other musicians "always cover Paul's songs, and never mine". Ono then responded "You're a good songwriter; it's not June with spoon that you write. You're a good singer, and most musicians are probably a little bit nervous about covering your songs". Whether she honestly meant this as an insult is debatable. Heather McCartney, when asked about her husband's thoughts on the subject, said "He doesn't even know yet. Look at how successful Yoko's music is compared to Paul's. Speaks for itself".
Of her artistic inspiration she said,"I'm always inside myself and listening to what's coming into my head. I'm like a conduit of some message coming through me. I'm interested in everything, equally, every day. I'm in love with life, the world, every moment."
Yoko Ono.Now you know some snapshots of her life. Funny aye when you look at her picture and instantly, you'll be thinking that you've just seen a ghost; whilst what's going on around her are news which we might never take an interest on.But at least now i've known a thing or two from this lady.Yoko Ono Lennon. Truly a remarkable lady. One who picks herself up when her music wasn't being appreciated in her early uprising years but she was optimistic about her message of peace and she perservered.
ps: Happy Birthday. :)You know who you are.
