Had red cross camp for the past 3 days. It was on Monday up till Wednesday. Overall the camp was fun and full of unexpected events.
Day 1 Was asked to report to Selwyn at 7am for the labelling of camp stuffs. For the first time in 3 months, i'm early.Wee.Selwyn was the day i/c for that day. Campers who showed up were less then expected. But the camp still goes on according to plan.First day was fun and basic. We didn't do much stuffs on that day. Had p.t which was led by none other than Farah Ma'am. While running, did some cheers and some obstacle course which involved dipping our faces in flour. Went off for remedial after that looking like an idiot with a face full of flour. Came back 2 hours later to join the campers and they were having outdoor cooking during Lunch. Had some bonding games with the Sec ones as well as the other campers. Lights out was quite early as compared with previous years. We slept at around 12 plus if i'm not mistaken. Slept peacefully when suddenly all of us were woken up by the fire drill. Ahmad Sir was blowing his whistle and screaming 'Fire!!Fire!!' What the heck...we all managed to evacuate our bunks within 2 minutes. But still, it was not fast enough.If there were to be an actual fire, i think all of us will be barbequed to death. haha.. after that, we all went back to sleep. Had a hard time sleeping as i was afraid that we might not be able to wake up on time.
Day 2 Was supposed to report to the NCOs by 6am. Lynn, who was the girls bunk i/c woke all of us up by 4am just to let us have a bath. Took my time as it was still early. The 2nd day i/c was Zheng Qian. Did p.t to wake all of us up. Jog around school and it was time for breakfast. Faezzah and i did not have our breakfast as we were both rushing to get our respective stuffs from home. I had my maths remedial for 3 hours. While having lessons, i felt like dozing off as i was too tired. Mdm sumrah kept asking me to answer the questions.She must have noticed how tired i was. And to think that it was still early in the morning.Uhhs.Not all of the class attend the remedial.It was quite as a result.Quite boring la. Was informed by the NCOs that the campers will be taken to Pasir Ris park for some activites.
This is the first time in the history of Prss Rcy that we were actually given the privillage to get out of the school compound during a camp. Met Faezzah at Pasir ris int. to meet the others at the park. Had out campfire prep and all of us combined our groups to form a bigger group for the campfire performance.Cool uh. Made our way back to school and we had our outdoor cooking during dinnertime. Zheng Qian had to go back home as he had tuition and i was made the next i/c for that day. What the heck!To be frank, i was not prepared at all. Rehearsed the campfire performance again and after that i had to lead the campers for the ug campfire briefing. Lutfi Sir was the emcee for Red Cross during the Campfire. Although our manpower is little as compared to the other ug, we were the ones who made the most noise and we were basically shouting at everything! Cool huh.
Red Cross rocks. The performance that we did as a whole was okay i guess. The NCOs told us that we were good and had made them proud and stuffs. Had our nightwalk after that. It was the most interesting part of the camp besides the campfire. As the i/c, i was supposed to hold on to my buddy. Well, i had 2 buddies. The Capsicum and a small tomato. I was told to do all sorts of crazy stuffs during that nightwalk.And all of us were blindfolded,mind you. In the end, we all were covered in flour. Urghs. As the i/c, i was sabo-ed with 2 water bombs.The horror.I was totally drenched.
After all the horror, we were given about an hour to wash up. After that, had our reflection and off to the bunks. Around 4 am , we were awaken once again by the fire drill. This time, it was Cassandra Ma'am who were blowing the whistle. We took about 5 minutes to evacute. What a dissapointment. Were told to go back to our bunks and to report to the NCOs again. This time round, we only took 1 min and 30 sec.An improvement. Went back to our bunks to sleep again. Totally exhausted for the day.Slept like a log. The others were dozing off fast too.
Day 3 The final day of the camp. What a relieve. I was the i/c for the 3rd day too. Was asked to report at 6.45am. All of us woke up quite late and luckily we were punctual for the report. Had our breakfast and did some basic footdrill. Guess what?! I was told by the NCOs to give all the commands to the campers.Oh my goodness. So darn nervous la... didnt expect it to be that way.Yet again, one could never be prepared. Had Selwyn's and faezzah's help to teach all the sec ones the statics footdrills. The NCOs had warned me to be more firm with the campers as they were slacking. Heeded their instructions and was firm to them. Controlled my laughter for that whole 2 hours. hahahaha..so funny la. Gave them punishment. Seeing their tired faces just makes me even more guilty. But i had to be firm and made them answer each and every one of my questions. whoah..so honoured. When they failed to answer me yet again, off they go down on the ugly grounds to do their pumpings. I'm not evil okay! Had to be firm and strict. After the footdrill ended, finally i saw them smiling. I was less guilty after that. Assigned 3 groups to clean the areas which we occupied for the past 3 days and we were only given an hour and a half to clean them up. Ran here and there screaming at them to double up and to ensure that everything is in tip top condition. I was so naggyla.I hate it. I just hate punishing my dear campers. And then all of us were ready to go home!Finally. Before going home, we had the award ceremony. It's like a tradition.
And the awards goes to...

MWHAHAHAHAHAHHAA..best i/c.what the heck. They said that i was strict and firm with the campers. It was more like a torture to me for being firm. Well it's over now. Well the 2 things that i've learnt while being the i/c was that trust and responsibility. When my capsicum was snatched away from me during the night walk, i had discovered that lynn was the last camper who saw my capsicum and she said that one of the NCOs took it away.Instantly, i had told them that i trust Lynn all the way. Yuye Ma'am told us that i was brave enough to trust lynn although i've only known her for 2 years and she's my juniors and futhermore, i had known the NCOs more then lynn. But still i had stuck by lynn and that was good. I was given the 3 cheers by both the campers and the NCOs. Thanks guys. The 2nd thing was that the whole campers was given the responsibilty to prepare the campfire performance and we did it well. Not once did the NCOs helped us out in our actual performance and they were proud of us in being independent. I'm proud to say that we may have argued but we perservered and each and every one of us helped each other out when we're in trouble.
Lastly, this year's batch of sec ones are fast learners.They were able to absorb the static drills which i had taught them. Well done and this year's camp was funn!!!WHOOSH.
